Currently in Australia when you connect your basin taps to the water socket at the wall you will see that this is generally done with a braided flexible hose.

In 50% of cases a plumber will also install a tap in the line so that you can turn off the water supply at the hose to isolate the area and change tap washers or do other repairs without having to turn off the water supply to the whole house.

We've developed a flexible hose that incorporates a valve and a loose nut on each end. The loose nut on the end makes the connection much easier (and faster) to accomplish rather than trying to bend the hose in confined spaces to line up the wall and nut threads.
